Soccer Sequence No.3
Time does fly by when you are having fun. Today's Soccer Sequence focuses on the importance of timing. Try to identify the event the following numbers relate to.
Manchester United make two substitutions in the 1999 European Cup Final, bringing on the eventual goalscorers in their 2-1 win. 10 (Sheringham) for 15 (Blomquist) 20 (Solskjaer) for 9 (Cole).
A last-gasp and unexpected victory, like Carcetti in the Baltimore Democrat Mayorals...
As a lifelong Man United fan, this was apparent to me within a millisecond of reading it... what other sequence of substitutions stand out so much in the memory?
Sheringham for Blomqvist. Solskjaer for Cole. United win the Champions League!!!
The answer is the substitutions made by Manchester United in the 1999 European Cup final. Sheringham for Blomqvist and Solskjaer for Cole. As Jamie states this was a last-gasp victory, like Carcetti in the Baltimore Democrat Mayorals. Thank you all for your prompt replies. Mr Bish was the first.
