Periodically Cool

The InspiredMag website  has listed 33 Curious uses of Periodic tables. Included are my tribute to Everton FC ( 'The School of Science')   and Arsene Wenger  ('The Professor of Science'). As the article asks, are they great visualisations or Mendeleev's worst nightmare? Maybe just a bit of fun.

If you are interested, the updated versions will be ready at onasixpence.bigcartel.com within the week.

The Dribble Returns with the Gazelle

Neymar's value must have doubled after this wonderful goal for Santos in a friendly against Flamengo. Ok, it was a friendly but he does dribble with sublime movement. He is 'The Gazelle'.  A couple of questions. Does he have a nickname in Brazil? If not, 'The Gazelle' seems appropriate. And is he off to Real Madrid?

Talented Finger Prints

Brighton printmaker, Matt Lloyd has produced a beautiful set of  limited edition prints of ten Wire Characters. Each print is  signed, numbered and  produced in a  garage at the top of his garden on a home-made press. A proper artist.

Win Win Missed

My local cinema decided not to show Thomas McCarthy's latest film, 'Win, Win'. I will have to wait for the dvd launch. If it's as good as the two previous films he directed, it will be worth the wait. In a recent interview with the Guardian, he states that his role as Scott Templeton  made him disliked by the general public. "People really don't like me," he joked.

Lost Duo

Metacritic's  score for The Wire, series Four, is 98/100.

Where were the two points lost?

Better Before

Interesting advert from Nike comparing different eras. I think I prefer the 'Before Ronaldo' period.

Football Shirts In Film

A Spanish fan this morning twittered with joy that a Barca shirt appeared in Prison Break. Any other examples of football shirts in unusual TV programmes or the movies?

Pass, Pass, PASS

Oh, just let him enjoy!

The New Black Panther

Interesting interview with Gbenga Akinnagbe, who played the not-so-nice Chris Partlow on 'The Wire'. Since the Wire, he has appeared in two other USA blockbusters, The Good Wife and  Nurse Jackie.

The Good Wife: The First Season

There is a campaign on twitter ( #GbengaIStheBlackPanther) to support his quest to play the Marvel superhero, the Black Panther.

Fair Copa

Interesting piece on the players to watch at Copa America  by The Football Net blog. It will be interesting to see Neymar in the competition. Is the hype justified? If you have seen him in competitive games. please let me know your opinion? I fancy Argentina to win the trophy.

Who Folos Who

Folos.im have produced a league table of   Official Twitter football club accounts ranked in terms of the number of followers. Very interested to see the level of interest in Brazilian teams. Guess who is the top English club on twitter?
